После включения Compiz (Система -> Настройки -> Внешний вид -> Визуальные эффекты)
Установите менеджер compiz для настройки глазных конфет (куб, анимация)
sudo apt-get install simple-ccsm
после этого зайдите в Система -> Настройки -> Менеджер настроек простого CompizConfig
Перейдите на вкладку рабочего стола и включите куб рабочего стола, получайте удовольствие

Система -> Настройки -> Внешний вид -> Вкладка «Визуальные эффекты»
