Я пытаюсь работать Wi-Fi в Ubuntu 10,04 лтс на ноутбуке HP Pavilion DV6. Я новичок в Ubuntu

В старых версиях Ubuntu есть множество серьезных сетевых ошибок; сетевые утилиты были существенно переработаны в последних версиях. Прежде чем заняться чем-то другим, вместо того, чтобы преследовать, возможно, уже исправленные ошибки, я бы посоветовал посмотреть, сможете ли вы загрузить недавний настольный компакт-диск с Ubuntu (12.04). Это работает с компакт-диска и не требует изменения вашей установки.

У меня точно такой же ноутбук. Ядро ванили от версии 3.8 до 3.9.4 сломано для этого адаптера Wi-Fi. Патч, найденный по этой ссылке, вернет изменения в драйвер, чтобы он работал так же, как в 3.7.10 (без проблем со стабильностью или производительностью).
